art fair europe 2010: Picture seeks frame
- Old-established company F.G. Conzen shows unique historical frames at special show in Nürnberg
Art collectors, gallery owners and curators know the problem: They would like to exhibit an antique painting, but the original frame has either been lost or destroyed. The search starts for a frame that corresponds to the time and place of origin of the work of art. Anyone looking for frames can find them at the special show of "Historical Frames" which takes place at art fair europe, the Trade Fair for the Art Trade, in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 2-4 October 2010.
The old-established company F.G. Conzen, which possesses one of the world's largest collections of antique frames, presents an exquisite selection of frames from its next auction in November at art fair europe. The special show of "Historical Frames" in hall 10 offers an overview of the frame styles that predominated in Germany, France and Italy from the 16th to the 20th century. Some 50 historical frames – all unique specimens – can be seen at this auction preview, including Italian Renaissance frames, carved Florentine leaf frames or Dutch ebonized ripple moulding frames.
